Katie, a freelance video editor in desperate need of work, receives a high-paying offer from an anonymous employer to edit a mysterious and strange video. Short of money and facing eviction, Katie eagerly accepts the job. The video shows people being tortured and even killed on camera – in reality, just an elaborately staged fantasy. But when this first job leads to an even more lucrative job and more frighteningly realistic films about smells, Katie’s life begins to unravel. Strange figures in her apartment, terrifying nightmares that keep her awake, and a mysterious illness tormenting her cat. It’s only when Katie finally decides to quit her job that she discovers just how cruel her anonymous employer really is and how brutally she will try to get out of her contract.
